Life's little wonderments....
- does evaporated milk last longer than regular milk? how do they 'evaporate' it?
- easy open cans (ya know the Pillsbury cinnamon rolls and crescents etc.) are NOT easy open!
- my broiler cooks a LOT faster than I thought! don't sit down while broiling somethin....
- why isn't certain puddings refrigerated? I put them in the refrigerator anyway
- why do the fucktards on the road ZOOM by you (even though you are going faster than the speed limit) only to get in front of you and SLOW DOWN? Are they doing that on purpose??
- why is it the next day from a manicure I ALWAYS manage to chip one of my NAILS?!?!
I am cooking more at home, trying new things. YAY me! Yea ok, it's going ok. As in the above statement, I did burn something I made in the broiler. Nice. Instead of making just plain tomato sandwiches I decided to put the tomatos on garlic bread with cheese. Well either the rack is too close to the broiler (it's on the second to last rung) or it just doesnt' take that long to broil stuff. Of course, the bread and tomatos wouldn't take long, but I was thinking 5 minutes the most. WRONG! So anyway I got two good pieces out of eight hehe.
So I'm deciding on what other items I may need. I have alot of kitchen shit (mostly dishes etc.) but I don't have a casserole dish. So I'm not sure what size to purchase. I do have a glass bowl, that is 1.5 quarts but as I found out, the square dish is better for making casserole-type things. I made green bean casserole in the bowl but JUST wasn't quite right. So, should I get the 2 qt, 3qt or 5 qt? I won't be cooking for a family of six or anything, but I want to make things I can reheat for later instead of wasting money on eating out or just cooking for ONE. I also meant to get my blender from G-man, but I figured it isn't right to take something back I gave him, even though he IS NOT using it. I forgot to ask for it anyway. So I'm thinking I might have to invest in a blender.
Of course if anyone has these items they wish to 'donate', feel free! I am sure I might be able to trade something for it (anything with one or more X's in it is NOT included in the trade!).
Ok. I am making ham crescent rolls today. Making a chicken caesar salad for dinner. Might make gazpacho soup for later in the week. Beats cooking I tell ya it's an OVEN in here! I have mushrooms in my refrigerator...and I stopped liking mushrooms a long time ago (I don't know why, but the "fungus" thing just gets me; I used to like them I swear)...but I want to make a chicken dish which calls for mushrooms and wine (looks good!). I am going to make broccoli with croutons to go with my chicken. ANd I remember my mom's double-baked baked potatos, so I'm going to try that. So much work I tell ya! But I am so tired of looking at myself in the mirror and not liking that dreaded "MUFFIN TOP". It seems to have grown. SO.....I am taking on a LIFESTYLE change. It's not that I haven't tried before....I just never stick with it. I so lack in the motivation area. I've got issues yea yea. Anyhow, I am also increasing my workouts as I have been slacking on those too. I will probably indicate what I've done on here 1) for me as a record and 2) it will make me accountable. Not that anyone would care to read it, but even if one person sees it, and then I stop writing, that will force me to keep writing because then I feel like oh I don't know. But I can't seem to find anyone who wants to stick with it here. My sister always calls and wants to go walking then backs out. She's about as motivated as I am! The one friend I have here is not willing either. One she wakes up around noon-ish and it's too hot to workout then. Two she's not motivated either. Sure we all TALK about it, but none of us end up doing it most of the time. SO I have to MOTIVATE MYSELF!
I did hike at Skidaway yesterday, which was nice, although I started freaking out seeing these little creatures run by so fast. I think they were muskrats. And day of all days I leave my camera home (it's been in the truck and I decided to bring it in since it was so hot lately) so I couldn't capture momma dear with her two youngun's. THey were so cute! With the white spots all over em, ears perked up, hoppin around when I pulled up to see them closer. They ended up running into the brush while momma was like chomping away on the grass. She wasn't concerned but those younguns were so skittish! It was cute though. No matter how often I see deer they just never cease to amaze me. And seeing little ones is even better since it's rare. Also saw an osprey with her two young. They were perched up in the nest, momma was callin and they finally flew off. At first they looked like they were going to hit the water but then they pulled up. So today I'm going to bust my abs out and hit the beach (later it's too damn hot out!) I've got to do this. I'm not getting any younger........although.......I will ALWAYS be younger than LL!!!!!!
