What's in a name

well since I'm dillydallying, I decided to look up my name and find out what it means. I did this eons ago, but I figured I needed a reminder.

Then I went and looked up some others. I am not a Tom Cruise fan by no means (the only reason I have Top Gun is because of Val *shiver*)

So I did a search for his baby's name (or rather his PSEUDO-baby, cause ain't no way it's his).

I read on CNN (ya I know......) that apparently they named it Suri because it is Hebrew for "princess" (are they Jewish> Thought he was of the Sci-Fi religion>>?? Did I miss something? Ok I know you don't have to be of a certain heritage to take a name and give it to your baby, but then it just doesn't have the same meaning, I mean that's my opinion. I won't go further, cause I know lotsa people who are Irish who have Irish names ack!) Anyway, according to some flunkie-spokesperson it is derived from the Persian meaning "red rose".

Well what I came across was it meaning "wealthy" (he is so stuck on himself) in Armenian (Persian) as well as the red rose reference above, "Mother of the Sun" in Sanskrit, or in Hebrew it means "Go Away". Um I don't see where it says Princess in those two words. And I do know Sarah in Hebrew means princess (best friend's daughter's name).....Now I also found it meaning "Pointy Nose" in Indian (India Indian). Now I researched a bunch of baby name places and the majority have the Persian "red rose" or the Indian "mother of the sun", but a friend of mine from my other college speaks Farsi (language of Persia/Iran, etc.) and it doesn't mean red rose. MMMkay.

I myself conclude that it is Hindu in nature and so the "Sun" thing is my bet. But in looking at geneology crap, Suri is a surname, not a first name. I think it also means 'priest or sage' which um would be a name preferably for a boy.

I also hear Suri=Surrey where the old Sci-Fi guy Hubbard himself used to live, and that's what the name means. Which I'm inclined to believe as ya know he's (Tom) is a nutjob. Most people name their kids after either someone in their family, or in reference to a very good friend or something religious or even totally off the wall shit (which I think is the case here).

So I guess the point of all that is celebrities call their kids weird-ass names (um Apple? why name someone after a fruit>) because they are just that------celebrities and they can do what they want since they got all this money. Well go for it. Those kids are getting complexes and having mental issues right out of the womb nowadays.......

My name on the other hand is a Danish or Norwegian variation of Christine, also can be deemed as North German. I think I can handle being Norwegian LOL. I am German in my lineage somewhere! I was told it also meant "christine or christian" or "stone church" in Greek, which could allude to my personality LOL

I did a check on some others......FS5.......um your name in Latin means 'small' (giggle).

How fitting. Ladylongfellow! Yours means 'wench' in Gaelic.

Oh well that was fun......zzzzzzz

Then clearly, the Latin language is incorrect!

my surname sure doesn't reflect my heritage. then again my blood quarium is constantly under question. If I could only speak more languages I could pass myself off as nearly any nationality along the pacific rim.
