Yea I know, but what can I say I like the simplest of entertainment.
As I am trying to get my crap in order for Australia, I came across just the littlest things that I need to get in order. Damn going away for almost a month takes a lot of planning, which I do not do very well. Shit I should have gotten or ordered I should have done a while back. Now I ordered a Powershot S60 that I'm not sure will get to me in time. I hope so because that would so come in handy if I didn't want to lug around the digital SLR.
I'm still freaking a bit because for the last week of my stay I have no place to stay. Hmmm better work on that. Just cannot decide where to go. Do I go to Tasmania? The Outback in the center of Australia? OR hit the Great Barrier Reef region? Western Australia seems to be a little less traveled. Well I may do a hostel group trip. I'm just feeling a little weird about the age of this hostel thingy, since I'm a student but not of traditional student age. I wanted to do all of the above but the airfare alone would kill me. So I have to pick. I can do both Tasmania and CEntral Australia in a week for about $1500 if I do the hostel trips. Or I can go it alone. I've traveled alone a lot, but not in another country all the way around the world. Plus it would be nice to share it with someone, even if I don't know them. Decisions decisions.
I am setting up a webpage for when I go over on Lonely Planet. I just send them the photos and they resize and post so it's a lot easier than me having to redo my website every day. If ya wanna be updated on it lemme know. Right now I only have 8 journal entries and 20 photos I can load (it's free) so I may just buy the 60-day thing for $20.
Now I still have to get my doctor's note for my prescriptions. Fucktards said "well don't you have the Rx bottle?" YEA ASSWIPES BUT I'M GOING OUT OF THE COUNTRY THEY DON'T KNOW IF I STOLE IT OR WHATNOT. THey just don't want to DO anything more than they absolutely positively must do. Guess thats what happens when I go to the "free" clinic.
I still want to buy a couple of clothing items but may wait until I get there. I don't want to take too much, but I will also need warm clothing when I go to Baltimore so I am actually mailing those clothes up there since I don't want to take too much to Australia.
I;ll be staying at the De Vere in Sydney and the Travelodge in Melbourne. Both look nice.
I wanted to get a facial before I left but I may just wait. I still have to pay the balance of my tuition and trip and that leaves me with next to nothing. I did get my IRA funds that I cashed out today and ordered $100 in Australian dollars. Damn the bank still knocks off 40 cents off the rate of exchange. How do I get a better rate? Some say the ATMs in the country because the airports are worse than the banks. Well shit if it says $1.00 US = $1.29whatever in AUD then THAT is what the rate should be when you go get the damn money. For shit's sake!
I had a decent Turkey day all by myself. Made a turkey tenderloin with gravy, sweet potatoes with marshmallows (I didn't make the casserole because I was too lazy to mash the taters), I didn't make the yummy green bean casserole because I FORGOT the damned cream of mushroom soup! But I still made the beans and topped them with the fried onions. And stuffed my face with two cupcakes (one vanilla one chocolate) and made some teeny tiny choco chip cookies and had a beer. It was good. Had cheese and crackers and chips to satisfy my monthly craving haha.
Well I have to work for the next five days. I was supposed to work today but J covered for me and I thank her for that. She's a great addition to the team. I hope we get someone just as good to cover. The fill-in actually made the most in sales the other day. We are having a 'contest' for this week, I guess an incentive for us to "sell" more. I was like "WTF" but I knew she had one mom who bought a lot of stuff. DAMN IT I know I was second. I'm pretty sure. We'll see how I do these next five days. I'm not a salesperson. But I'll try. Nowadays people think they can take professional photos with the digital cams they have. Not saying we have the best setup but our flash is much better than those on-camera things and we can get a lot closer. Oh well. Such is the times........

You're going to Aus for a month and you have $100?
Tell me I'm reading that wrong.
You are reading that wrong.
I only got $100 changed over to Australia dollars for now so I would have their money when I enter their country. I like to make sure I am prepared when I go to their country. I have more money to spend. ACtually I have some the G-man giveth (he is my sugar daddy now he even said so haha) and I want to take the coinage I have rolled to put into the account to so I can have more $$ when I use the ATM. I have enough in there now, just I can feel being more broke when I get back but it will be so worth it!
