Do You Remember the Roller Derby?
In the 80s? On tv? I do and it was funny.
Well, I just came back from one. Yup. Here in Savannah. Imagine that a roller derby team in Savannah. They got their asses handed to them on a platter by the Atlanta derby team, but this is only their first game, first team.
I am actually thinking about joining. If I had known last year.......
But I would need a derby name. THat's tough. Lot of good ones taken. I did one of those tests and this is what came out........
Elenore Brusavelt 43% fight, 50% speed |
You are Elinore Brusevelt.. slow and steady.. |
My test tracked 2 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
|
eh. Not a big fan of Elinor. I was thinking like "Aphro Dee Ziac" but then I'd probably have to sport an afro........Then came up with Ride 'Em Red, Maxine Pad (er maybe not), among some other ones along those lines......I really like Violet Wanda but of course my sister didn't like it, and she didn't get it........then thought about like Cherry Jubilee, but not 'tough' enough. THere were others but damn if I can remember them. My sister thought of Bertha Control......good one. I need a good one.......
Anyway here's the link for the Savannah derby
It was a little slow at first and of course we didn't look very good out there (got smoked at like 183 Atlanta to 75 or so for Savannah, talk about a serious ass whuppin). But it got more crowded and more fun.
Watching really made me miss my soccer days. I used to play outdoor co-ed and indoor co-ed. And I loved it. And I miss it. But now I would have to take a year to seriously get back into shape. If I only had kept my roller skates from my high school days.........
I even had the fancy colored wheels and stopper..........
Maybe I could have cut off the tops and use them for derby........
But I am not sure I'm here long enough to play...........

Either I'm blind or your pics aren't showing up...
Some of those sound like stripper names.
We had a roller derby team in Philadelphia, but it was in the 70s. I remember watching them on TV. Never did fully figure out the rules. The Warriors, I think.
