I shouldn't
take a nap after 5pm........
I don't like blowing up at people but today I did. Our photographic cart at the hospital is having problems......and I know it's not just on my days. The remote won't work any more so we have to use the keyboard to take a damn photo. This is very inconvenient. Especially when people are standing up there with me in front of the keyboard. The baby makes a cute expression and I'm grappling with the keyboard and miss it. There have been two tech tickets on it for two weeks and still nothing. The other photographer rednecked it but it still doesn't work. Oh and when you DO snap the first photo. It doesn't show up on the screen........
When we see new moms, it is usually about 24 hours from or less when they had the baby. Because nowadays, they sometimes get discharged in 24 hours. So of course our company wants to make sure we see every mom and photograph every baby. *yah, RIGHT* So if we do go in and they have to wait until the following day for whatever reason, it's called a Rollover or Carryover. Well, we definately need to take photos the next day because that is usually discharge day, and a while back apparently one of the photographers (who is gone thank goodness) failed to see rollovers or delayed their discharges, so we got an ass chewing about holding up discharges. Well some of these moms are so damn insistent on getting photos before they leave, THEY are the ones holding up discharges not us!
So today, this lady I saw on Wednesday was rolled over again to me today (Friday). Um what? She should have gotten photos yesterday. I look on the list for yesterday and it says "wants AM appointment baby's eyes will be open then". Um WTF is wrong with THURSDAY AM>>??? I don't guarantee some day old baby is going to be bright eyed and photogenic for pictures. Either you get sleeping photos or none. I don't really care. Of course she was discharged before I even got to the hospital. And she's had two days to read that catalog and what does she do? ASK ME WTF I do and how much shit is. OMG I know I was rude to her and I didn't give a shit. Apparently the nurses were tired of her too. Well so I get reamed out because I am holding up her discharge, so I decide to call the other photographer and pass it on. There is NO reason I should see a mom twice, unless I'm working the next day. Not two days later. And you know what? THe fucking bitch didn't even ORDER ANY PHOTOS! They better call in an order or I will be highly upset. We don't get paid for the photos taken, like we used to. Only get paid on the order they place. It kind of sucks but we do a decent job. If I have a really good day I can make $500 for the damn company. Too bad I see diddly.....Multiply that by however many hospitals nationwide.......
At first I felt bad about chewing her out but then I was like, no. No way am I going to feel guilty. Come on. We should not have to see these people more than once. And to boot the lady thought she had an appointment with me. Um hello? Another photographer cannot set my appointments. I doubt she did, as moms NEVER hear what is actually being said but only HEAR that they are getting an appointment at 10am the next day with someone else, when in actuality I will come BY THE ROOM in the morning and it won't be at 10am. It's when I damn well get there.
THere's a damn gnat bothering me.....

My friend here in Ohio is doing that-taking pics of newborns. I don't know how it works here as far as payment, but she enjoys it. I somehow don't think she's dealt with people like that though.
Sorry to hear ya had a shitty day.
Gnats bug me. Especially around my fruit. Git!
