Other Stuff and Miscellaneous Crap

Well, the interview went alright at the District Attorney's office. Basically a receptionist job. But that's ok. I would still love to do it. But.........they don't know when the interviewing will be done, bladda, yadda. So maybe it didn't go so well........I sent out two thank you cards anyway. One to the interviewers and one to the District Attorney himself. He actually came in to the office I was interviewing in. I was told to send thank you cards to everyone I met. Well, I met him. He asked my name (twice, no one gets my name the first go-round), I shook his hand and he left. So. Technically I met him. So he gets an "it was a pleasure to meet you, however briefly" card. So what if he doesn't remember me. I have nothing to lose right?

I'm still highly pissed off at my current employer. I contacted the Department of Labor and they can't do anything since I'm a contractor. I can take the company to court, but they can also fire me. I have a four page letter sitting here waiting to send to everyone from my immediate supervisor to the CEO. Just waiting........

My last statement shows all the orders I had through a certain date. YET they only paid me on the SMALLEST ones. Um hello? Cheating me? HOw can I make commission if the company is not paying all my orders? There's no reason to pay some and not others. They all are done on the same day. Each day is mailed in the same envelope so they all get there the same time. THey are all listed so they should ALL be paid. I said as much to my boss. I made it clear that it looks like the company doesn't want to pay commission and so they dump all my highest orders into the next pay period, that I'm being cheated.

I basically asked her why I should make an effort to make commission if I don't get paid for it? I can sit on the clock for my lousy fallback hours because that doesn't seem to get screwed up.

Oh she's "going to look into it". Yea. Good thing I haven't held my breath since December.

I CANNOT access my Guild WArs game at the library. How can I get around that without putting too much effort into it? Anyway need to bypass someone else's firewall or proxy? Oh well. I'm not in withdrawal and almost bought the expansion pack. But since I barely know what I'm doing on the one I have and don't have much time to play, I figured I'd wait. It was only $10. But I need to save every penny. I have a whole wish list for my digital darkroom. I also may end up springing for some sort of wireless internet.........

Which brings me to this: I can either get dial up (I so don't want to "go back" to dial up. It's like having had experienced the best sex of your life only to go without, or to go with lousy sex. Sure you get used to it. But it sucks. Sucks the big banana. Having had a taste of something good to go back to something bad. It's like a cruel joke. Anyway, since having had high speed internet I think I'd develop trichotillomania if I had to go back to dial up. Granted, dial up is better than NO internet, but I do have a few (high dollar) options also.

I contacted AT&T and basically asked why on this green earth the cable man can't lay me out a fiber optics cable down the road I live on when 3/10ths of a mile up the road is a new subdivision (they SAY DSL is not available in my area, cable isn't either, and maybe it isn't since I do live on a dirt road.......). They surely have cable and a DSL line right? WELL, if I gave him an address he could check to see if that neighborhood had DSL. Later. Ok so what can I do then? WELL, they can provide me with a wireless card I can put into the computer (why can't I use the one I have?) which will act like the wireless service on a cell phone. THa'ts $100. Then I can surf the internet anywhere in my house for $54.99. Yikes. Ok so what if the card doesn't work (my redneck boyfriend's father had put on a metal roof on the house........). Well I have 30 days before my '24 month contract' kicks in. Ok. So, if this card does not work INSIDE my house I can send it back and not be charged? So they say..........

OR

I can go satellite. Basically the same thing although my initial output will be $299 for all the fandangled equipment. (Why can't I use the satellite dish that is sitting outside in the yard? It works. I was able to get movies on it? Well that dish will only RECEIVE information, not send it, and in order to have access to the internet you have to send and receive.) Um ok, but I thought the MODEM is supposed to do that (I didn't think of THAT question until after I hung up with them).

Man have I got to pee.

I think that's it for now. Just doing more job searching and stuff.
